Intergenerational housing, Gembloux
For this project, a group of students were given a plot in Gembloux, Belgium to study. Gathering the findings and analyses, each student was to design a dwelling for inter-generational living.
For this project, I chose to explore the possibilities within modular planning. Based on a pattern of squares and triangles, the building comprises an apartment shared by two students, an apartment for an elderly person or couple and finally a home for a family. Each unit benefits from its own outdoor area. The aim of uniting the generations is achieved through one common eating area.
Additionally, in view of the proximity with the local school, the program includes a sweet shop.
